Obituary of David Leland Smith

David L. Smith, 74, of Creve Coeur, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Pekin Manor. He was born in Peoria on August 20, 1947, to Wilburn and Garnet (Forsythe) Smith. He married Rose Mary Turner in Peoria on December 3, 1970; she survives. Also surviving are his children, Zackary (Amy) Smith of Washington, Jeremy Smith of Pekin, and Sally Smith of Peoria; his sister, Garnet Kerr of Bartonville; his brother, Darrel Smith of Minnesota; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Judy Goodnight; 5 brothers, Jay, Sherman, Jim, Nyle, and Dewayne Smith; and his infant son, Wilburn Joseph Smith. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He worked as a maintenance man and loved to play bingo and Yahtzee. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria, with a half hour of visitation, prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. Rev.
