Obituary of Monica Kay Mitchell

Monica Kay Mitchell, age 46, passed away at her home in Peoria on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

She was born to Dan Hackney and Beverly Foust on July 23, 1973 in Pekin. She married Robert James Mitchell in Pekin in 1996 and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2009 in Monmouth.

She was also preceded in death her infant sister.

Monica is survived by her children Stephanie Mitchell of Peoria, Grant Mitchell of Peoria, and Rachel (Merle Deal) Mitchell of Winfield, KS; mother, Beverly Haggerty; father, Dan Hackney; one sister; and one brother. Monica was also the loving grandmother of Petey the dachshund, and he will miss her very much.

Monica earned her Associates Degree from Illinois Central College and worked as a Certified Paralegal and Business Administrator for several years. She loved being outdoors and spending her free time with her close friends Jen Ford and Ardelle Wright.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life for Monica will be held at a later date. The staff of Cremation Specialist of Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
